The Invisible Noise
By Russell Prior, founder of ViVi
I spent more than two decades working inside some of the most transmission-heavy environments in film and television.
Modern production is built on wireless communication. Microwave transmission systems. Wireless video feeds. Remote robotics. Mesh networks. Realtime monitoring. Entire ecosystems of signals move constantly between cameras, vehicles, playback stations, production teams, and clients.

These systems are extraordinary. They solve enormous creative and technical problems. But after years of operating inside that environment, often for 12 to 14 hours a day, I started noticing something else. The world had become permanently connected. Not just on film sets. Everywhere. Our phones. Our watches. Our homes. Our headphones. Every device is constantly searching, syncing, transmitting, updating and notifying.

Always on
At some point, I started asking a simple question. What would listening feel like if it disconnected instead? Not disconnected from music. Disconnected from everything surrounding it. That question became the foundation for ViVi.
ViVi was built around a different philosophy. Safe. Simple. Sound.

Safe means creating a listening experience with no Wi Fi, no Bluetooth, and no constant wireless handshake happening inches from your head.
Simple means reconnecting with the idea that technology should work for you, quietly and intentionally, without endless notifications, pairing, syncing, or digital tethering.
And sound means returning the focus to what mattered in the first place. The music itself. Your library lives directly on the device. You connect. You sync. You disconnect.
And when you press play, the experience belongs entirely to you. No interruptions. No searching for signal. No endless tether to the network. Just presence. Just focus. Just sound.
ViVi is not anti technology. In many ways, it came from spending decades around some of the most advanced wireless systems in the world. But somewhere along the way, we stopped asking whether every experience actually needed to be connected all the time.
ViVi is our answer to that question. A quieter relationship with technology. A more intentional relationship with music. We are not anti technology. We are pro human.
Now it’s time to turn this concept into reality and that’s why we’re on Kickstarter to raise funds. We are looking for the pioneers, the parents, the athletes, the deep thinkers and the wellness advocates who will help us take our design into production.
